Ontario Courts has answered the call to adapt their practices in response to COVID-19. Effective January 26, 2021 Ontario Small Claims Court accept filings via email and through their E-Filing Portal. Approximately 70 additional Small Claims Court documents are now eligible for filing in order to make it easier and convenient for Ontarians to manage their matters during the pandemic and we expect these improvements to last.

Ontarians can now submit certain documents listed in Rule 4.05.1 of the Rules of Civil Procedure for automatic filing and issuance. Before you submit your documents online you should have:

  • An online One-key account
  • All your court documents saved as PDFs
  • Your method of payment
  • Your court file number (when filing for existing cases)

Documents filed between 8:30am and 5:00pm (weekdays) are considered filed at that time.

Claimants are encouraged to use the Small Claims Court E-Filing Service portal or the Small Claims Court Submissions Online portal in order to file forms and documents without having to attend in person.
