• The Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) anticipated to be 13% is slated to come into effect in July 2010 in Ontario affecting sales and marketing strategies for virtually every business and profession.
• Amended Family Law rules will require more comprehensive plans and information disclosure in custody disputes especially when a non-parent seeks custody.
• Privacy will be under siege with intrusive searches when crossing the border.
• In a troubled economy employees will be seeking adequate compensation for termination.
• More support payers are seeking variations in their agreements or court orders.
• The law now acknowledges that a decline in the value of assets between separation and hearing may result in a lower equalization payment.
• Yet, real estate is booming with continuing record low interest rates.
